It is obvious that internet (ARPANET) was first used to connect computers at different universities across US and to communicate among army. With the progress in technology and development of Modern computers (GUI based) beside the development of protocols to exchange data, things changed all of the sudden that is where the start of new era in computer field that was of websites.

The symbolics.com domain was originally registered on 15 March 1985, making it the oldest active .com-domain in the world. (However, on 27 August 2009, it was sold to XF.com Investments.
