Purely breathtaking these lakes are. Plitvice lakes are the largest lakes of the county situated in the steep hilly karsts area of central Croatia, at the edging to Bosnia and Herzegovina. The distinctness of these lakes is range of eight different colors they showcase as a natural splendor. One can witness from sapphire to green, grey or blue. The insignia keeps transforming depending on the amount of mineral deposits or organisms in the water and also the angle of sunbeams. From these wonderful lakes one can witness a collection of falls, arcade of ponds, forests and a multiplicity of animal life. There are in total sixteen lakes which have been formed by natural barriers of travertine and divided into higher and lower lakes. The higher or upper lakes are called Prošćansko jezero, Ciginovac, Batinovac, Veliko jezero, Malo jezero, Vir, Galovac, Milinovo jezero, Gradinsko jezero, Buk, Kozjak. And the lower lakes are given the names like Milanovac, Gavanovac, Kaluđerovac, Novakovića brod. An additional charm of these lakes is the two waterfalls. The Veliki slap (Large Waterfall) with the height of about 78 metres and Galovački buk (Galovac Waterfall) with a height of about 25 meters. But even that is not all about these lakes; one can do so much more like hiking, walking on the wooden trails and even skiing, rowing, cycling, rowing etc. These lakes are truly a magnificent experience.

Peyto Lake

This is most definitely one of the most beautiful, most alluring, and most elegant lakes of the world, the Peyto Lake. It has been given this name after a 20th Century explorer, Bill Peyton. And local people pronounce it as “pea-toe”. It is to be found on the Ice fields Parkway snuggled in the core of the Mistaya Valley in the Canadian Rockies, and is surrounded by glaciers which are shrinking rapidly. But these decreasing glaciers are being supervised by scientists at a weather station close by. An exceptional feature of this lake is its shape, which is like the head of a wolf. Other than that, the lake demonstrates a sparking rare milky blue color which is simply awe-inspiring and also changes with seasons and times of day. The crystal-clear glacial water is so pristine, that if you look from a height you shall actually be able to see the bottom of the lake, which is of 90 meter depth (or 270 feet). There are loads and loads of fish in this breathtaking lake. And it becomes a lot more fun as you can clearly see all the fish before you get to catch one! If you like the pictures and are willing to go there, then its not just beauty you shall witness, but there are plenty of activities as well.

Lake Matheson

Lake-Matheson

I say, this enchanting, most spectacular lake should have been named the “the perfect reflector” or something like that. But this most beautiful lake of the world in New Zealand is famous as the Lake Matheson. This legendary reflective lake can easily be a photographer’s dream, because it is simply a perfect natural mirror. No exaggeration, but the crystal waters create such a magnificent mirror image of the peaks and everything around it, which simply spellbound its viewer. An ideal time to visit this lake would be the daybreak. The lake and its complete surroundings are worth discovering. You shall discover how it is the home for numerous water birds and an addition to its fame is the local long finned eels. There are rimed trees, which I would call a cherry on the cake! They have extra-tall trunks and fanciful bushy tops and look like the most scenic beauty of the world!

Wuhua Hai, or Five-Flower Lake

The Wuhua Hai Lake is dreamingly the world’s most beautiful lake. It contains such auspicious colors of nature, such flourishing flowers and trees of various kinds that it gives a multi-colored exquisite grandeur. This is why the lake is also called the ‘five-flower lake’. The water is so clear and diamond blue in color due to the natural source of light which falls over it and the colorful scenery around it. The water actually consists of carbonate as well as hydrophytes which is why when the rays of sun combine with the water along with reflective colors of scenery around it, the lake beams with a vesicular sight of a bizarre color combination. The lake displays all sorts of colors but the main to be sighted are blue, dark green, pinkish red, even goose feather yellow and light yellow, etc. This lake is actually one of the dozen natural lakes. It is quite shallow, and its bottom, which is as clearly visible as through clear glass, is littered with fallen tree trunks. This all gives such a sight I tell you, only seeing is to believe! There is a myth about this lake as well. The water of this lake never freezes and never dries up! Now the locals report that this lake is actually holy which is why the flowers and trees around it are always flourishing and never wither!

Yucatan Cave Lake, Mexico

Yucatan-–-Cave-Lake-Mexico

Last but not the least; Yucatan Cave Lake is yet another masterpiece of nature. The lake is considered forbidden though, but the lake itself is so mesmerizing, one can hardly resist the sight. It is found in Mexico, in the basement of Tiger Che in Yucatan peninsula. The lake consists of various caves in and around it, and they are the real amazing and delightful sight. One can hear deep and beautiful musical instrumental sounds, more like the sounds of bells, if any flat place there is struck hard with a fist. Amazing isn’t it? Once struck hard, the caves seem to go on and on forever. There is a lot more to be discovered there actually. You will find underground spaces, dry riverbeds, beautiful glittering stalagmites which look like frozen fountains, flat terrace of limestone and so much more. The whole rocks are of limestone landscapes which are common in Yucatan. All in all, Yucatan Cave Lake is a sensational sight and worth discovering. From its waters to the caves it is simply amazing!

The environment is not static. There are new challenges to the water quality of the Great Lakes.
