Fatwas is an arabic word, literally means “opinion”.In Islamic faith, fatwa is a religious opinion concerning Islamic law issued by someone having a strong grasps of Islam, Quran and Hadith.Legally fatwa doesn’t hold any grounds as it is just an opinion.Here is the list of some really senseless fatwas.

Adult Breastfeeding in the Workplace

Ezzat Attiya, a lecturer at al-Azhar University in Egypt, one of the most prestigious university of Islamic sciences, came up with a very bizarre idea of legitimating presence of both the genders at workplace.According to him if a male worker suckles adult female workers breasts 5 times, she becomes her foster mother and now they both can work together.

This pathetic idea or fatwa raised storm of controversies in muslim world. Attiya based his fatwa on  a hadith that once  Prophet ordered a woman to breastfeed a boy, who she adopted to form a family bond. Many Islamic scholar deny that any such hadith exists.

Attiya lost his job and he reacted strongly that his viewpoint was just for a particular case and was misinterpretation and misunderstood. Whatever dude, r u nuts or what?

I am no Islamic scholar , nor have I enough knowledge about Islam but I read somewhere that Prophet Mohammad’s first wife was a working lady and Prophet used to work with him before marriage.

Soccer is Haram in Islam

Soccer is Forbidden Except When Played as Training for Jihad.” This fatwa, translated into English and attributed to the Saudi Sheikh Abdallah Al-Najdi, was complemented by numerous directives, including: “One should not use the terminology established by the non-believers and the polytheists, like ‘foul,’ ‘penalty kick’. Whoever pronounces these terms should be punished, reprimanded, kicked out of the game, and should even be told in public: ‘You have come to resemble the non-believers and the polytheists, and this had been forbidden.

Polio Vaccine is Haram

Clerics in Swat valley of Pakistan banned polio vaccine and called it infidel’s trick to make Muslims kids sterile. Where the hell do they get these crazy ideas?

I am unable to understand the logic or intentions behind this really bizarre fatwa?

Sun Revolves around Earth

In a 2000 Fatwa titled “The Transmitted and Sensory Proofs of the Rotation of the Sun and Stillness of the Earth”, Saudi Arabian Grand Mufti Sheikh Ibn Baaz asserted that the earth was flat and disk-like and that the sun revolved around it. He had insisted that satellite images to the contrary were nothing but a Western conspiracy against the Islamic world.

Taking while Pissing is Strictly Prohibited

Another Mufti Abd al-Wahhab al-Turayri issued a bizarre fatwa that talking while pissing is not allowed in Islam. He based this fatwa on an indirect hadith “Two men should not go to relieve themselves, exposing their private parts, and then be talking to each other, since Allah hates that.”

Deaths by Accidents

Egypt’s highest authority on Islamic law issued a fatwa that drivers cannot be blamed for killing people who stand in front of their vehicles, just days after a police van ran over a woman who tried to stop it.WTH?

Emoticons are Un-Islamic

Emoticons are forbidden because of its imitation to Allah’s creatures whether it is original or mixture or even deformed one and since the picture is the face and the face is what makes the real picture then emoticons which represent faces that express emotions then all that add up to make them Haram.No Comments
